Week 16 & 17 (April 20th-May 3rd)

WEDNESDAY, April 22nd:

After finishing my final essay on Iranian Cinema for my World Cinema course the night before, I decided to treat myself to a leisurely stroll through campus and Richmond Park. I could not have picked a more perfect day! There was not a cloud in the sky and it was actually warm outside. My friend Abby and I came across several animals during our walk. The most exciting to see was a red fox that was sneaking by the campus pond at noon. Such beautiful creatures :)

FRIDAY, April 24th:

Went to Camden yet again! Can't get enough of this place and always manage to see something new :)
Food is of course the main reason why I keep going back haha.

TUESDAY, April 28th:

To celebrate the completion of all of my final essays, I went into central London to see Romeo and Juliet performed at the Globe Theater! I got to endure the full peasant experience with my Groundling tickets. The performance was quite good although there were some interesting additions. The cast had fake tattoos all over their bodies and the male actors could not manage to keep their shirt on through the entire performance (which I could not complain). Although I was expecting a traditionally costumed rendition, the play was still amazing to see from the Yard. My feet, however, would argue that it was not so fun to stand stationary for 3 full hours...

THURSDAY, April 30th:

My friend Paula and I went into the city to visit the Natural History Museum (again), so much fun! We went through their new Coral Reef exhibit, which was very enlightening. Horrifying to know that coral reefs are rapidly disappearing because of environmental factors :(

After the museum, we walked around Kensington Gardens as well as Hyde Park to see everything while it is in its fresh Spring bloom. We could not have picked a more perfect day! While strolling through the parks, we tested out several benches (which many were dedicated to deceased frequent park-goers) and I concluded that "Stan's favourite spot" was the best. I saw several cute critters and beautiful flowers throughout our walk, but seeing the Peter Pan statue had to be my favorite part of the day.

Despite having to finish some academic assignments, it was very nice to enjoy two quiet weeks on campus and London. I always managed to finish re-reading the entire Harry Potter series. Still love them as much as I did as a kid :)

For the next two weeks I will be exploring Scandinavia! Cannot wait to see what adventures await in Oslo, Norway and Stockholm, Sweden. I'm in disbelief of how quickly the end of my study abroad experience is approaching… I will definitely miss it here but I am also excited to soon be home.
