Monday:
My school holds an event called The Grand, where they rent out a club for the night and provide a bus there and back. It was okay and I managed to be a bit too drunk before even getting there thanks to a tasty bottle of wine. The best part was coming back to campus to a 2am snowfall! I merrily (and drunkenly) ran around in the fresh snow and had my first casualty by falling on the cobblestone pathway on the way to my dorm. High heels were a bad choice..

Friday:
I went back to the British Library to see the permanent Sir John Ritblat Treasures gallery. I was able to see the
Beowulf manuscript in Old Engligh, Jane Austen's writing desk and manuscript for
Persuasion, Shakespeare's first folio, Leonard da Vinci's notebook, Charlotte Bronte's notes on a scene from
Jane Eyre (which she later removed because it had Jane doubt her self-worth), handwritten scores from Beethoven and Mozart, the Diamond Sutra, and my favorite part was viewing original manuscripts from The Beatles.

Later that night I also went to my university's event called BOP where a dance is held at our campus' pub. The theme this week was Movie/TV characters so I had to go haha. I was, however, a bit upset that I did not have my costume box with me. I managed to scrap together a Marla Singer costume, not that it mattered any way because most people do not know this character's name from
Fight Club.
Saturday:
I had the pleasure of revisiting Greenwich and enjoy exploring the Royal Observatory. While passing through Greenwich's Old Royal Naval College, I was able to see a professional film shoot. It looked like they were preparing for a night shoot as well. Wish I could have figured out what production it was for, but with all of the excessive equipment and crew it must have been a high budget project. Previous films shot there include:
Finding Neverland (2004),
Sherlock Holmes (2009),
The King's Speech (2010),
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011),
Skyfall (2012),
The Dark Knight Rises (2012), and the upcoming
Cinderella (2015).

Image produced by a Camera Obscura. It is a predecessor of photography and cameras.
It is an optical device that consists of a room with a hole in one side.
Light from an external scene passes through the hole and strikes the surface inside,
where it is reproduced and rotated 180 degrees.
This image is outside of the Camera Obscura of the Royal Observatory. |
